Jeremiah 9:4

"“They bend their tongue, as their bow, for falsehood. They have grown strong in the land, but not for truth; for they proceed from evil to evil, and they don’t know me,” says the LORD."

Key Reflection

The people of Judah were known for their deceptive practices, likened here to bending a bow—a metaphor for deceit and falsehood. The Israelites had become adept at such deceptions within their land, but not out of a desire for truth; rather, they were continuously engaged in evil deeds, showing no regard for the LORD who spoke through Jeremiah. This condemnation highlights how deeply ingrained wickedness was in the society, making genuine faith and righteousness scarce among them.
