Jeremiah 42:16
"now therefore hear the LORD’s word, O remnant of Judah! The LORD of Armies, the God of Israel, says, ‘If you indeed set your faces to enter into Egypt, and go to live there,"
Key Reflection
The remnant of Judah, who had survived the Babylonian invasion, were being warned by Jeremiah not to seek refuge in Egypt. This was a significant piece of advice because, historically, Egypt was seen as a land of safety and prosperity, but it was also a place fraught with political instability and divine judgment. The Lord's message underscores that despite their fears, trusting in Him would be wiser than seeking the perceived security of foreign lands.
