Hebrews 6:6

"and tasted the good word of God and the powers of the age to come,"

Key Reflection

The phrase "tasted the good word of God and the powers of the age to come" (Hebrews 6:5 WEB) likely referred to those who had experienced the initial blessings and miracles associated with early Christian communities, such as miraculous healings and other divine manifestations. For the original audience, these experiences would have been vivid memories of the immediate power and grace of God, preparing them for the greater revelations and eternal rewards promised in the future.

From the Scholars: Barnes' Notes

Verse 6. If they shall fall away. Literally, "and having fallen away." "There is no if in the Greek in this place--' having fallen away.'" Dr. J. P. Wilson. It is not an affirmation that any had actually fallen away, or that, in fact, they would do it; but the statement is, that on the supposition that they had fallen away, it would be impossible to renew them again.
