Haggai 2:10
"‘The latter glory of this house will be greater than the former,’ says the LORD of Armies; ‘and in this place I will give peace,’ says the LORD of Armies.”"
Key Reflection
The people of Jerusalem, returning from exile in Babylon, would have been deeply familiar with the grand temple of Solomon that once stood as a symbol of God's presence and glory. Haggai's prophecy reassures them that despite the destruction of their previous temple, the new one being rebuilt will surpass it in splendor and significance. Moreover, this new house will be a place where God promises to dwell among his people, bringing peace and prosperity to Jerusalem. This promise would have been particularly encouraging as the community worked diligently to restore both the physical structure and spiritual life of their city.
