Genesis 44:5

"When they had gone out of the city, and were not yet far off, Joseph said to his steward, “Up, follow after the men. When you overtake them, ask them, ‘Why have you rewarded evil for good?"

Key Reflection

In Genesis 44:5-6, Joseph's instruction to his steward hints at a test of his brothers' character and loyalty. By asking why they have "rewarded evil for good," Joseph probes whether they still harbor resentment or if they have truly repented of their past mistreatment of him.
