Jacob’s actions upon waking from his dream at Bethel were symbolic of his commitment to make God's promise tangible. By setting up a pillar and pouring oil on its top, Jacob not only marked the spot where he had his prophetic vision but also consecrated it as a place of worship, aligning himself with Abraham’s practice of offering sacrifices and erecting altars to honor the Lord (Genesis 12:7, 13:4, 15:7). This act underscored Jacob's faith and his intention to keep God's covenant, even before he returned home.
