Key Reflection

In Genesis 27:10, Isaac instructs his son Esau to go and fetch two young goats to prepare a savory meal for their father, whom they plan to deceive by having him eat the meat instead of the more ceremonially significant grain-based food that Jacob was meant to receive. The original audience would have understood this as part of a complex scheme to manipulate their elderly and possibly blind father into blessing the younger son, reversing the traditional order of inheritance in line with the covenant God had made with Abraham.
