Ezekiel 5:7

"She has rebelled against my ordinances in doing wickedness more than the nations, and against my statutes more than the countries that are around her; for they have rejected my ordinances, and as for my statutes, they have not walked in them.’"

Key Reflection

This passage highlights Israel's deeper spiritual rebellion compared to the surrounding nations. Despite having received divine laws and statutes, Israel transgressed more severely, rejecting God’s ordinances and failing to follow His commandments, whereas the neighboring countries had not fully embraced them either.

From the Scholars: Barnes' Notes

Because ye multiplied -Some prefer: Because ye have raged tumultuously.” Neither have done according to the judgments -(or, ordinances) of the nations The reproach is that the Israelites have not even been as faithful to their one true God as the nations have been to their false gods (compare2 Kings 17:33).
