Ezekiel 48:8

"“By the border of Reuben, from the east side to the west side, Judah, one portion."

Key Reflection

This verse delineates a territorial division where Judah's portion is specified as extending from the eastern to the western borders alongside Reuben's territory. This arrangement symbolizes the integration and cooperation among tribes under divine design, reflecting a unified covenant community despite individual identities.

From the Scholars: Barnes' Notes

“Length” is throughout measured from west to east, as breadth is from north to south. The offeringEzekiel 48:9-22, or, “oblation,” here includes all the land given to priests, Levites, city, and prince; the different parts being distinguished. All these together are to extend from west to east in the same way as the portions of the other tribes, the imaginary Jordan being the eastern boundary of all.
