Ezekiel 29:5

"I will put hooks in your jaws, and I will make the fish of your rivers stick to your scales. I will bring you up out of the middle of your rivers, with all the fish of your rivers which stick to your scales."

Key Reflection

In Ezekiel 29:5, God uses vivid imagery to describe His judgment on Egypt, comparing it to fishing in a river. By placing hooks in the jaws of the Nile and causing fish to adhere to the scales of larger creatures, God illustrates how He will draw out Egypt, along with its wealth and resources, into the open desert. This metaphor not only highlights divine control over nature but also foreshadows the destruction and scattering of Egypt’s people and treasures, leaving it barren like a desolate wilderness.
