Exodus 35:3

"‘Six days shall work be done, but on the seventh day there shall be a holy day for you, a Sabbath of solemn rest to the LORD: whoever does any work in it shall be put to death."

Key Reflection

This passage establishes the Sabbath as a day of complete rest and holiness, set apart by God for worship and rest. Violating this day with work was considered so serious that the penalty was death, highlighting its importance in ancient Israelite life.
