Exodus 14:15

"The LORD will fight for you, and you shall be still.”"

Key Reflection

In Exodus 14:15, when Moses tells the Israelites, "The LORD will fight for you, and you shall be still," he is drawing on a rich tradition of Yahweh as a warrior God who acts on behalf of his people. The original audience would have understood this in the context of numerous military encounters where Yahweh had already demonstrated His divine power and protection, such as during the plagues against Egypt or when freeing the Israelites from slavery. This verse reassures them that even though they may face formidable enemies like the Egyptian army, their deliverance is secure because God will intervene on their behalf, allowing them to remain passive and trust in His sovereign might.

Wherefore criest thou unto me? -Moses does not speak of his intercession, and we only know of it from this answer to his prayer.
