Deuteronomy 13:5

"You shall walk after the LORD your God, fear him, keep his commandments, and obey his voice. You shall serve him, and cling to him."

Key Reflection

This passage emphasizes a life of devotion where believers are called to follow God wholeheartedly, not just out of obligation but with reverence and obedience. By serving and clinging to the Lord, one commits to staying closely connected to Him in both action and heart.

From the Scholars: Barnes' Notes

The context and parallel passages (compareDeuteronomy 17:7;Leviticus 20:2) indicate that there was to be a regular judicial procedure, and that the manner of the execution was to be by stoning. In this the community was to take its part in order to show its horror at the crime, and to clear itself of complicity therein.
