They were his countrymen; they had been captives with him; they had been selected with a view to stand with him before the kingDaniel 1:3-4; they had shared with him in his rules of abstinenceDaniel 1:11-17; they had all passed an honorable examination before the kingDaniel 1:18-19; they had united with him in supplication to God that he would disclose the meaning of the visionDaniel 2:17-18; and now it was proper that they should be remembered by him who had been so signally honored.
