Acts 18:26

"This man had been instructed in the way of the Lord; and being fervent in spirit, he spoke and taught accurately the things concerning Jesus, although he knew only the baptism of John."

Key Reflection

When Luke wrote about Apollos in Acts 18:26, his original audience would have recognized that this man was well-versed in the religious teachings of the day, specifically the prophetic writings and the wisdom of Moses (the way of the Lord). Apollos's fervent spirit and accurate teaching demonstrated a deep commitment to these teachings. Despite his knowledge being limited to John the Baptist’s baptism, which symbolized repentance and preparation for the coming Messiah, he was already making significant contributions by spreading information about Jesus and His message, even before encountering Paul or hearing about the full gospel of Christ's death and resurrection.
