Acts 16:6

"So the assemblies were strengthened in the faith, and increased in number daily."

Key Reflection

In Acts 16:6, we see that the early Christian communities experienced a significant strengthening of their faith as well as an increase in membership. This growth likely occurred through ongoing preaching and teaching, building the church's foundational understanding of Jesus Christ. The daily expansion reflects not only the natural spread of the gospel but also the dynamic nature of community formation in the face of persecution and amidst the challenges faced by these early believers.

From the Scholars: Barnes' Notes

Verse 6. Throughout Phrygia. This was the largest province of Asia Minor. It had Bithynia, north; Pisidia and Lycia, south; Galatia and Cappadocia, east; and Lydia and Mysia, west. And the region of Galatia. This province was directly east of Phrygia. The region was formerly conquered by the Gauls. They settled in it, and called it, after their own name, Galatia. The Gauls invaded the country at different times, and no less than three tribes or bodies of Gauls had possession of it. Many Jews were also settled there. It was from this cause that so many parties could be formed there, and that so much controversy would arise between the Jewish and Gentile converts.
